As part of the Animate Team you will be part of the Liverpool Archdiocesan Youth Ministry Team.
You will work with about 10, 000 young people a year from year 6 to year 13.
This work will be done either as a day retreat at the centre in St Helens or as outreach in a school or parish.
A day retreat will consist of up to 50 young people coming to Lowe House to be led by you and other members of the Team in various activities and reflections aimed at breaking open the theme of the day which the school have asked for. As schools often ask for different themes and have different needs each retreat will be different.
An outreach mission day or week will take place in a school or parish and will involve you presenting from a stage to a larger group of young people (usually a whole year group of 150-200) through drama, activities and testimonies.
Lowe House is also home to the Liverpool Youth Pilgrimage to Lourdes and so you will be involved in the preparation of 450 young people who travel to the shrine of the Blessed Virgin every summer, and you will have a chance to be part of that group if you so wish.
As Animate is the Diocesan Youth Ministry Team you will also be heavily involved in other initiatives in the Diocese: training young people as extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, World Youth Day pilgrimages, CymFed Faith in Action scheme, links with the Diocesan Vocations Team, planning and leading aspects of Diocesan Youth Masses for up to 400 young people.
You will live as part of a community in Lowe House with between 5 and 8 other young people. You will pray together every day and celebrate Mass together in the week.
You will be expected to work hard but you will get a lot back in return: you will meet a lot of new people, you will have a chance to help young people grow in their own faith and you will be an integral part of the life of the Archdiocese of Liverpool.
